This photography class was an eye-opener. The only film camera I’ve ever worked with before came in the form of a point and shoot camera that my mother had. The only film developing I had ever done was dropping the film from the camera off at Walmart or Sam’s Club to have it developed. I never realized that you could actually develop film beautifully by hand. The dark room was rough the first few weeks, as I struggled with properly prepping the film for development. Once getting that down, developing was fun, except when things did not work out right away. One experience I had with that was a picture that needed dodging. I had no idea what that was, and had to try it 3 or 4 times before it came out right. When it finally came out though, it was extremely gratifying because the picture that I had envisioned and wanted to see was staring me back in the face. I gained an appreciation for photography as an art form and not just as a way to keep track of memories.
